Daniel

The Book of Daniel is set during the Babylonian exile and follows the life of Daniel, a young Jewish man of high status and profound faith, who serves in the courts of several powerful kings. The book is divided into two sections: the first tells dramatic stories of Daniel and his three friends demonstrating unwavering loyalty to God, even when threatened with death in a fiery furnace or a lion's den. The second section records Daniel's complex, futuristic visions, which reveal God’s sovereign plan for the future rise and fall of various world empires, culminating in the establishment of God's eternal kingdom. Daniel shows that God is in complete control of history and remains faithful to His people even when they live in hostile foreign lands.
