Exodus
Exodus chronicles the liberation of the Israelite people from slavery in Egypt after centuries of bondage. This dramatic narrative highlights Moses, whom God calls through a burning bush to lead His people to freedom. After Pharaoh refuses, God sends ten devastating plagues upon Egypt, culminating in the Passover. Moses then leads the Israelites across the miraculously parted Red Sea, beginning their journey through the wilderness. While encamped at Mount Sinai, God establishes a covenant with them, providing the Ten Commandments and detailed laws for worship and daily life, including plans for the Tabernacle, the portable dwelling place for God's presence among His people.
The craftsmen complete the sacred furniture: the Ark of the Covenant (made of acacia wood and gold), the mercy seat, the table of bread, and the golden lampstand.
The craftsmen complete the bronze altar for burnt offerings, the bronze basin for washing, and the construction of the large courtyard surrounding the Tabernacle.
The priestly garments are completed, including the richly detailed ephod and the breastplate set with precious stones, all made exactly as the Lord commanded Moses.
The Tabernacle is finally erected and anointed one year after leaving Egypt. The glory of the Lord (Shekinah) descends as a cloud, filling the Tabernacle, signifying God's presence.
