Jeremiah

Jeremiah

Jeremiah, often called the "weeping prophet," delivered God's message to the southern kingdom of Judah during its final, chaotic decades before the Babylonian exile. His message was extremely unpopular: he repeatedly warned the leaders and people that judgment was certain, and they needed to humbly submit to the conquering Babylonians. For this, he faced constant ridicule, imprisonment, and threats to his life. Though filled with heartbreaking accounts of his own suffering and the nation's stubborn refusal to repent, Jeremiah’s book also contains a pivotal promise of hope: the prophecy of a "New Covenant," where God would write His law not on stone tablets, but directly onto the hearts of His people, providing a future restoration and forgiveness.
