The Book of Numbers chronicles the forty years of wandering by the Israelites in the vast, unforgiving wilderness after they departed from Mount Sinai. As a consequence of their disobedience and lack of faith, the entire generation that left Egypt is condemned to die in the desert, except for Joshua and Caleb. The book concludes as the new generation prepares to finally enter the land of Canaan.
