Psalms
The Book of Psalms is the primary worship book of the Bible, a collection of 150 sacred songs, prayers, and poems written by various authors, primarily King David. These songs express the full range of human emotion: joy, praise, gratitude, sorrow, anger, doubt, and hope. The Psalms are traditionally grouped into five books, covering different types of worship: psalms of praise, laments, royal psalms, wisdom psalms, and historical psalms. They served as the ancient Jewish hymn book and continue to be a central resource for worship, meditation, and spiritual guidance for both Jews and Christians, teaching believers how to communicate openly and honestly with God in every circumstance of life.
David asks God to punish a malicious, deceitful enemy. He seeks judgment for those who repay his love with hatred and slander his name.
A foundational messianic psalm. God installs the King at His right hand and declares, "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."
A hymn praising God's powerful and righteous works. The psalm celebrates the fear of the Lord as the beginning of all true wisdom and understanding.
A psalm celebrating the blessedness of the righteous man. The righteous man is generous, honest, and his prosperity and integrity endure forever.
