Psalms
The Book of Psalms is the primary worship book of the Bible, a collection of 150 sacred songs, prayers, and poems written by various authors, primarily King David. These songs express the full range of human emotion: joy, praise, gratitude, sorrow, anger, doubt, and hope. The Psalms are traditionally grouped into five books, covering different types of worship: psalms of praise, laments, royal psalms, wisdom psalms, and historical psalms. They served as the ancient Jewish hymn book and continue to be a central resource for worship, meditation, and spiritual guidance for both Jews and Christians, teaching believers how to communicate openly and honestly with God in every circumstance of life.
David prays for forgiveness and guidance. He lifts his soul to God, asking to be taught God's ways and to be delivered from his shame.
David asserts his integrity and pleads for vindication. He asks God to examine his heart and walks in innocence toward God's altar.
David’s confident affirmation: "The Lord is my light and my salvation." He seeks only to dwell in the house of the Lord all his life.
David prays to God, his rock, asking Him to hear his voice. He asks God to judge the wicked and save His people with strength.
