1 Chronicles 11

1 Chronicles 11

All the tribes of Israel gather at Hebron and proclaim David as their king, acknowledging him as the one God chose to lead Israel. David’s first major action as king of unified Israel is to conquer the heavily fortified city of Jerusalem from the Jebusites, which he makes the new capital, the City of David. The chapter then lists David’s Mighty Men, detailing the heroic acts of his three most elite warriors and the larger group of thirty. This highlights the military legitimacy and prowess of David’s kingdom.
