1 Chronicles 17

1 Chronicles 17

David expresses his desire to build a permanent, beautiful Temple for the Lord to replace the simple tent. The prophet Nathan initially approves, but that night, God speaks to Nathan. God refuses the offer, saying David has shed too much blood. Instead, God gives David the eternal Davidic Covenant: He will build David a house (dynasty), and David’s throne will be established forever. David responds with a long, heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving, expressing humility and awe at God’s boundless grace and promises.
