1 Corinthians 1

Paul addresses the church in Corinth, immediately confronting the issue of division and factionalism within the congregation. Some claim to follow Paul, others Apollos, and others Cephas (Peter). Paul asks, "Is Christ divided?" He emphasizes that he was sent to preach the gospel, not with human wisdom, but with the simple message of Christ crucified, which is foolishness to the world but the power of God to those who are being saved.
