1 Kings 20

1 Kings 20

Ben-Hadad, king of Aram (Syria), besieges Samaria and demands King Ahab surrender all his silver, gold, wives, and children. Ahab reluctantly agrees, but Ben-Hadad demands even more. God promises Ahab victory to prove that He is the Lord. Ahab defeats the massive Aramean army. The next year, Ben-Hadad attacks again. God grants Ahab a second victory, but Ahab foolishly spares the life of King Ben-Hadad after making a covenant with him. A prophet confronts Ahab, declaring that because he spared the enemy, his own life will be taken instead.
