1 Kings 2

1 Kings 2

David gives his final instructions to his son, Solomon, urging him to be strong, follow the Law of Moses, and remember God’s covenant. David instructs Solomon to execute Joab for his past murders and Shimei for cursing David, but to show kindness to the sons of Barzillai. After David dies, Adonijah plots again by asking Bathsheba for Abishag (David's concubine). Solomon recognizes this as a claim to the throne and orders Adonijah killed. Solomon then executes Joab and confines Abiathar (the wicked priest) to his home, securing his kingship and cleansing David’s house.
