1 Kings 3

1 Kings 3

Solomon makes a treaty with Egypt and marries Pharaoh's daughter. Solomon travels to Gibeon to offer a thousand burnt offerings, the largest high place. That night, God appears to Solomon in a dream and invites him to ask for anything. Solomon humbly requests not wealth or long life, but an understanding heart to govern and distinguish between right and wrong. God is pleased and grants his request, also promising him the wealth and honor he didn't ask for. Solomon’s wisdom is immediately demonstrated by his famous ruling to identify the mother of a disputed child.
