1 Kings 9

1 Kings 9

After the dedication, the Lord appears to Solomon a second time (the first being at Gibeon). God confirms that He has consecrated the Temple and that His name will be there forever. However, God issues a solemn warning: if Solomon or his descendants turn away to serve other gods, the magnificent Temple will be destroyed, and Israel will be cut off and scattered among the nations. The chapter then details Solomon's building projects, his trade agreements with King Hiram, and his continued use of forced labor from the remaining Canaanite population.
