1 Samuel 13

1 Samuel 13

King Saul disobeys God’s instruction through Samuel at Gilgal. When the Philistines gather a massive army, Saul becomes impatient waiting for Samuel to arrive and offer the required burnt offering. Fearful, Saul presumptuously offers the sacrifice himself, usurping the priest's role. Samuel immediately arrives and condemns Saul's act of disobedience. Samuel declares that because Saul did not obey the command of the Lord, his kingdom will not continue, and God has sought out a man after His own heart to be the next ruler.
