1 Samuel 19

1 Samuel 19

Saul openly commands his son Jonathan and his servants to kill David. Jonathan, loyal to his friend, warns David and successfully pleads his case to Saul, who temporarily relents. When war with the Philistines resumes, David is again victorious, and Saul's jealousy returns. Saul throws his spear at David again, and David flees to his home. Michal, David's wife and Saul's daughter, helps him escape by putting an idol in his bed to fool the messengers. David flees to Samuel at Naioth in Ramah.
