1 Samuel 24

1 Samuel 24

Saul is pursuing David in the Wilderness of En Gedi. Saul enters a cave to relieve himself, unaware that David and his men are hiding inside. David's men urge him to kill Saul, but David refuses to harm "the Lord's anointed." Instead, David quietly creeps up and cuts off a corner of Saul's robe. David then calls out to Saul, showing the piece of cloth as proof he spared his life. Saul weeps, acknowledges David’s righteousness, and makes David swear not to cut off his descendants when he becomes king.
