1 Samuel 25

1 Samuel 25

The prophet Samuel dies, and all Israel mourns him. David sends men to the wealthy but foolish man Nabal in Carmel, asking for provisions for his men, as David's men had protected Nabal's shepherds. Nabal insults David and refuses. David prepares to retaliate violently, but Nabal’s intelligent and beautiful wife, Abigail, secretly meets David with a huge supply of food, taking the blame and calming his anger. Nabal dies of shock ten days later, and David, impressed by Abigail's wisdom, takes her as his wife.
