1 Samuel 27

1 Samuel 27

Fearing Saul will eventually capture and kill him, David resolves to leave Israel and seek refuge among the Philistines. He and his six hundred men move to the Philistine city of Gath, under the protection of King Achish. David secures the small town of Ziklag for his people. David lives by deceiving Achish, claiming he is raiding Israelite territory when he is actually raiding non-Israelite groups (Amalekites and Geshurites), making himself appear useful to the Philistines while protecting his own nation.
