1 Samuel 29

1 Samuel 29

As the Philistine army prepares for battle, the other Philistine commanders distrust David and his Israelite troops, fearing he will turn against them to reconcile with Saul. They demand that King Achish send David back to Ziklag. King Achish, who trusts David, reluctantly sends him away, thus protecting David from having to fight against his own people in the upcoming battle against Saul. David and his men return to their home base at Ziklag.
