1 Samuel 31

1 Samuel 31

The final battle between the Israelites and the Philistines takes place on Mount Gilboa. The Philistines crush the Israeli army, killing three of Saul’s sons, including Jonathan. Saul, severely wounded and fearing capture and torture, falls on his own sword, committing suicide. The Philistines find the bodies, cut off Saul's head, and display his armor in the temple of their god. The brave men of Jabesh-Gilead recover the bodies of Saul and his sons and give them an honorable burial.
