1 Samuel 3

1 Samuel 3

The word of the Lord was rare in those days, but young Samuel is faithfully serving the Lord. While sleeping near the Ark of the Covenant, Samuel hears a voice calling his name. He repeatedly mistakes the call for Eli until the old priest realizes God is speaking. Eli instructs Samuel to reply, "Speak, Lord, for your servant hears." God reveals to Samuel His plan to bring judgment upon Eli's house, fulfilling the prophecy from the previous chapter. Samuel faithfully tells Eli everything, and the word of Samuel is established throughout Israel.
