1 Samuel 6

Seven months after capturing the Ark, the terrified Philistines decide to return it. They place the Ark on a new cart pulled by two cows that have never been yoked, and send them off, offering golden images of their tumors and mice as a guilt offering. The cows, without human guidance, travel straight to the Israelite city of Beth-Shemesh. The people rejoice, but seventy men of Beth-Shemesh are struck dead by God for looking into the Ark. The Ark is then moved to the house of Abinadab in Kiriath-Jearim, where it remains for twenty years.
