1 Samuel 7

1 Samuel 7

After twenty years, the people of Israel finally return to the Lord. Samuel rallies the nation at Mizpah to confess their sins and prepare for battle against the Philistines. While they are gathered, the Philistines attack. Samuel cries out to God and offers a sacrifice. The Lord answers with a massive thunderstorm that confuses and terrifies the Philistines, allowing the Israelites to defeat them completely. Samuel sets up a stone named Ebenezer ("Stone of Help") to memorialize the Lord's help. Samuel then judges Israel faithfully for the rest of his life.
