1 Timothy 1

1 Timothy 1

Paul instructs Timothy to command certain people in Ephesus not to teach false doctrines or devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Paul explains the purpose of the Law: it is good if used properly, but it is meant for the lawless and disobedient. Paul gives thanks to Christ Jesus, who had mercy on him, a chief sinner, and appointed him to ministry. He instructs Timothy to fight the good fight of faith and mentions two men, Hymenaeus and Alexander, who were disciplined for rejecting faith and a good conscience.
