1 Timothy 3

1 Timothy 3

Paul outlines the qualifications for two key church offices: Overseers (Bishops/Elders) and Deacons. An overseer must be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, able to teach, not a drunkard, gentle, not quarrelsome, and manage his own family well. Deacons must also be worthy of respect, sincere, not greedy, and hold to the deep truths of the faith. Paul concludes by declaring that the church is the pillar and foundation of the truth.
