2 Corinthians 4

2 Corinthians 4

Paul asserts that since the apostles possess this glorious New Covenant ministry, they do not lose heart, even when suffering. They have renounced secret, shameful ways and refuse to distort God’s word. Paul says that the gospel is veiled only to those who are perishing. He uses the analogy of treasure in jars of clay (our frail bodies), showing that the surpassing power belongs to God. He focuses on eternity, stating that our temporary, light afflictions are achieving an eternal weight of glory.
