2 Corinthians 8

2 Corinthians 8

Paul encourages the Corinthians to follow the excellent example of the poor Macedonian churches in giving. Despite their own extreme poverty, the Macedonians joyfully gave beyond their ability for the collection for the saints in Jerusalem. Paul uses Christ's example—He was rich but became poor for their sakes—to encourage them to complete the gift they promised earlier. Paul emphasizes that the key to generous giving is a willing heart.
