2 Kings 10

2 Kings 10

Jehu brutally consolidates his power. He sends letters to Samaria demanding the heads of the seventy surviving sons and grandsons of Ahab. They are quickly delivered to him in baskets. Jehu then travels to Samaria and massacres the remaining family members and officials of Ahab. In a cunning move, Jehu gathers all the prophets and worshippers of Baal under the pretense of holding a great Baal festival, then slaughters every single one of them, utterly destroying Baal worship in Israel. Despite this, Jehu fails to remove the golden calves of Jeroboam.
