2 Kings 12

2 Kings 12

King Joash begins his long reign righteously under the faithful guidance of the priest Jehoiada. Joash resolves to repair the long-neglected Temple of the Lord. He establishes a system where offerings placed in a chest near the altar are used entirely for repairing the structure, walls, and furnishings. The people are faithful in giving, and the repair work is completed honestly. After the good priest Jehoiada dies, Joash falls under the influence of evil advisors, leading to his downfall. He is eventually assassinated by his own servants.
