2 Kings 13

2 Kings 13

This chapter details the wicked reigns of two more kings of Israel, Jehoahaz and Jehoash, who continue the sin of Jeroboam by worshipping the golden calves. God allows Aram to severely oppress Israel, reducing their army to only fifty horsemen and ten chariots. God hears Jehoahaz’s desperate prayer and provides a deliverer. The chapter concludes with the final days of the prophet Elisha. Elisha instructs the ailing King Jehoash to strike the ground with arrows to symbolize victory over Aram; because the king only strikes three times, Elisha prophesies he will only defeat Aram three times.
