2 Kings 19

2 Kings 19

Hezekiah appeals to the prophet Isaiah for advice. Isaiah assures the king that God has heard the blasphemy of the Assyrians. Sennacherib sends a letter to Hezekiah, further mocking God’s power. Hezekiah takes the letter into the Temple and spreads it out before the Lord in prayer. God answers through Isaiah, promising to defend the city. That night, the Angel of the Lord goes out and kills 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. Sennacherib immediately retreats to Nineveh, where he is assassinated by his own sons, confirming God's deliverance.
