2 Kings 5

2 Kings 5

Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army, is a mighty and respected warrior, but he suffers from leprosy. A young Israelite girl, captured in a raid, tells Naaman’s wife that the prophet in Samaria can cure him. Naaman travels to Israel with immense wealth. Elisha sends a message telling Naaman to dip seven times in the muddy Jordan River. Naaman is initially furious at the simplicity and messiness of the command but eventually obeys and is miraculously cured of his leprosy. Elisha refuses any payment, but his greedy servant, Gehazi, chases Naaman and accepts gifts, resulting in Gehazi being struck with Naaman’s leprosy.
