2 Kings 7

2 Kings 7

The Syrian army lays a devastating siege on Samaria, causing a massive famine so severe that people resort to cannibalism. Elisha prophesies that by the next day, food will be incredibly cheap and abundant. Four lepers sitting outside the city gate decide to surrender to the Syrians but find the entire camp deserted. God had caused the Syrians to hear the sound of a great approaching army (chariots and horses) and they fled in panic. The lepers bring the news, and Samaria plunders the abandoned camp, fulfilling Elisha's prophecy precisely.
