2 Peter 1

2 Peter 1

Peter reminds believers of the power of the gospel, which has given them everything needed for a godly life. He urges them to make every effort to supplement their faith with goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love. Peter confirms that he and the other apostles were not following cleverly devised stories, but were eyewitnesses of Christ's majesty (the Transfiguration). He confirms that the prophetic word is utterly reliable, having been carried along by the Holy Spirit.
