2 Samuel 14

2 Samuel 14

After three years in exile, Absalom is dearly missed by David. Joab, recognizing David’s longing, arranges for a wise woman from Tekoa to approach David with a fictional story about her two sons, one killing the other, and the need to save the remaining son. David is moved and grants the woman’s request. Joab then reveals the setup and persuades David to allow Absalom to return to Jerusalem. However, David refuses to see Absalom for two years, maintaining a partial separation.
