2 Samuel 16

2 Samuel 16

As David flees Jerusalem, he is met by Ziba, Mephibosheth’s servant, who falsely accuses Mephibosheth of plotting to seize the throne. David, heartbroken, awards all of Mephibosheth's land to Ziba. Later, Shimei, a relative of Saul, stands on the roadside and viciously curses David and throws stones at him, calling him a "man of blood." David restrains his men from killing Shimei, accepting the abuse as a possible punishment from God. Meanwhile, Absalom and his new advisor, Ahithophel, enter the capital.
