2 Samuel 20

2 Samuel 20

Sheba, a Benjamite, raises a quick rebellion against David, declaring, "We have no portion in David!" This incident exploits the lingering tension between the tribe of Judah and the rest of Israel. David sends his forces to quell the uprising. Joab, who had temporarily been replaced by Amasa, murders Amasa near the great stone of Gibeon, reclaiming his position as general. Joab pursues Sheba to the city of Abel of Beth-Maacah. The wise men and women of the city negotiate with Joab and deliver Sheba's severed head to him, instantly ending the rebellion.
