2 Samuel 5

2 Samuel 5

With all rivals eliminated, the elders of all the tribes of Israel gather at Hebron and anoint David as king over the entirety of Israel, fulfilling the promise made by Samuel decades earlier. David immediately leads his army against the Canaanite city of Jerusalem, which was considered impregnable. David conquers the city by infiltrating it through the water shaft (the tsinnor). David makes Jerusalem his capital, calls it the City of David, and God grants him great military success and growing fame.
