2 Samuel 6

2 Samuel 6

David seeks to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. The Ark is placed on a new cart, and the procession begins with joyous music and dancing. When the oxen stumble, Uzzah reaches out to steady the Ark, violating God’s command not to touch it, and he is struck dead by God. David is both angry and afraid. He stops the procession and leaves the Ark at the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The Lord blesses Obed-Edom’s house mightily, prompting David to retrieve the Ark three months later with proper ceremony and sacrifice.
