Deuteronomy 17

Deuteronomy 17

This chapter establishes the procedures for appointing judges in every town to ensure justice and fair decisions. It commands that sacrificial animals must be without blemish. For complex judicial cases that local judges cannot resolve, the matter must be brought to the priests and judges at the central sanctuary. The chapter concludes with the law concerning the King: if Israel chooses a king, he must be an Israelite, not accumulate excessive wealth or horses, and he must write a copy of the Law and read it daily.
