Deuteronomy 18

Deuteronomy 18

Moses clarifies the financial and spiritual support for the priestly and prophetic roles. Since the Levites (priests) have no land inheritance, they are to be supported by receiving portions of the sacrifices and the firstfruits of the harvest. Moses strongly warns against all forms of Canaanite paganism, including witchcraft, divination, and child sacrifice. He then makes a crucial prophecy, promising that God will raise up a Prophet like Moses from among the Israelites, whom the people must obey.
