Deuteronomy 19

Deuteronomy 19

Moses details the function and establishment of the Cities of Refuge—six cities set apart for those who have unintentionally killed another person. These cities protect the accidental killer from immediate vengeance by the avenger of blood until the case can be fairly judged. The chapter also establishes the strict law requiring two or three witnesses for any accusation, and if a witness is found to have given false testimony, he must receive the same punishment that he intended for the accused.
