Deuteronomy 22

This chapter contains diverse laws promoting social responsibility, holiness, and neighborly care. It commands the return of lost livestock, the construction of a parapet (safety rail) around flat rooftops, and the prohibition against wearing clothes made of mixed fibers (wool and linen). It includes strict laws against cross-dressing and commands against mixing different kinds of animals or seeds. The chapter concludes with severe penalties, often death by stoning, for various forms of sexual immorality.

Samuel publicly gathers Israel at Mizpah and presents Saul as the chosen king. Saul prophesies with a band of prophets. Samuel warns the people again about the dangers of having a human king.
