Deuteronomy 24

Deuteronomy 24

Moses gives laws protecting vulnerable members of society. It establishes the rules regarding divorce (requiring a written certificate, preventing remarriage to a first husband if she marries another). It prohibits taking a millstone as a pledge (essential for survival) and strictly prohibits kidnapping. Laws related to hygiene and leprosy are given. It commands fairness in hiring and payment, ensuring hired laborers are paid at the end of each day, showing compassionate concern for the poor.
