Deuteronomy 26

Deuteronomy 26

Moses gives instructions for two ceremonies the people must perform after entering the land. First, the worshiper must bring the firstfruits of the harvest to the central sanctuary, declaring a summary of Israel's history—from being a wandering Aramean (Jacob) to becoming a nation delivered from Egypt—in a public ceremony of thanksgiving. Second, the chapter reviews the law of the triennial tithe given to the poor. The entire nation then solemnly reaffirms its commitment to the covenant.
