Deuteronomy 4

Deuteronomy 4

Moses delivers a powerful sermon urging the people to obey God’s statutes and rules exactly as they were given. He warns them intensely against idolatry, especially the creation of images, reminding them that when God spoke at Mount Horeb, they heard a voice but saw no form. Moses stresses that obedience is the key to life in the land and will be a witness to the nations of Israel’s wisdom. He reminds them that God is a consuming fire and a jealous God who demands exclusive worship.
