Ecclesiastes 10

Ecclesiastes 10

This chapter contains various proverbs about the subtle ways folly can ruin a good reputation and the importance of discretion. Dead flies make a perfumer’s ointment foul and stink, so does a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor. It warns that careless speech can lead to self-destruction, but the tongue of the wise keeps them. The Preacher warns against the danger of slothfulness, noting that due to laziness, the roof sags and the house leaks. He concludes by urging the reader to speak no evil against the king, even in secret.
