Esther 6

Esther 6

That night, King Xerxes cannot sleep. He commands his attendants to read from the royal chronicles. They read the entry recording how Mordecai saved the King’s life by exposing the assassination plot—an act for which Mordecai was never rewarded. The King asks Haman what should be done for a man the King wishes to honor. Haman, thinking the King means him, grandly describes a procession with royal robes and the King’s own horse. The King then commands Haman to do all these things for Mordecai the Jew.
