Esther 9

Esther 9

On the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the day the annihilation was planned, the Jews throughout the Persian Empire, empowered by the new decree, defend themselves against those who sought to destroy them. The fear of Mordecai (the new second-in-command) falls upon the people, and many help the Jews. In Susa, the Jews kill 500 men, including Haman's ten sons. The Jews successfully destroy their enemies and dedicate the following two days to joy, feasting, and the giving of gifts, establishing the annual Feast of Purim.
