Exodus 34

Exodus 34

God instructs Moses to cut two new tablets of stone to replace the shattered ones. Moses once again ascends Mount Sinai. God descends, proclaims His covenant name and character (merciful, gracious, slow to anger), and renews the covenant, giving specific commandments related to worship (no idols, celebrating the three major feasts). After spending another forty days and forty nights with the Lord, Moses returns, and his face shines so brightly from God’s glory that the people are terrified, forcing Moses to cover his face with a veil.
